Happy Birthday to the Wife

Happy Birthday Ashley Jean! I am so glad God made you!

  1. It is indeed a blessed thing to see a man thank God for all that He has given him, especially ‘the wife’. As all other Scriptures, it is a truth that, ‘a prudent wife is from the LORD’. [Prov 19:14].

There were a few ‘beautiful’ women that I had desired to marry before I was saved, but the Lord sovereignly and providentially broke up every single relationship. Then after I got saved there were a few other women, some beautiful and some not so beautiful that I thought would make a Godly helpmeet. But God prepared a ‘worm’ and smote these gourds of mine too, till I finally gave up on marriage. I determined wife or no wife “I am going to seek first your kingdom and serve you with all my heart”!
Then lo and behold, she came out of nowhere and God worked everything out in-spite of opposition from both our families and the Apostate Church that I was then a part of. God turned the hearts of our parents and our ‘pastor’ and we ‘tied the knot’!

It has been seventeen years now and since that blessed day she has been mine to have and to hold, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, through hell and high-water …. All by the grace of God! Many a time it was on the verge of breaking up, because of my backslidings and pride; but God has graciously kept it together and through it all brought us closer both to Himself and to each other.

I can say from the bottom of my heart that I would never trade her for any other woman in the world. It has been once again proved to me that the blessed Word is true – “the Lord will give that which is GOOD” and “a prudent wife is from the LORD”!

A small word of advice for those Brethren who are seeking for a wife. Commit the matter with the Lord and trust in Him and He will literally bring her into your life (sometimes almost miraculously). Ponder the following Scripture prayerfully – “And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made He a woman, and BROUGHT HER UNTO THE MAN”.[Gen 2:22]

This is true both spiritually and in the natural world. The Scripture speaks of the Church as the bride of Christ. And though it speaks of Christ seeking for His lost sheep, the Master made it plain that only those ‘given to Him of the Father’ would come to Him and no one could come to Him unless they were drawn to Him by the mighty power of God. Even so in the earthly marriage of His elect children, God works supernaturally and providentially to DRAW the one He has prepared for you, no matter where in the world they may be. And it is all by grace, that He might receive all the glory!

So you wait for God’s best, and He will give you nothing less! Hallelujah
