Why You Should Read…Jonathan Edwards!

DEAD GUY #1 is… Jonathan Edwards!

I know, good one Russ, way to pick the low hanging fruit, didn’t really need you to tell me to read the greatest theological mind in America. Well in response to that I would like to ask have you ever read anything by him other than the resolutions or sinners in the hands of an angry God? Me neither. Which is why I would like to recommend a few other works by him that are worth the time as well as a few biographies to help you get to know the man.

Here is why you should read more than just the famous stuff; you wouldn’t love John Piper the way you do if he hadn’t read Edwards. Edwards is Christian Hedonism. Also Edwards is just too helpful and God exalting in his thinking and writing to not go and see for yourself. Yes, he is hard read, but let me remind you that most really good things don’t come easy.

Works By Edwards:

Resolutions: 70 resolutions that Edwards wrote as a young man. these are sort but meaty statements about the glory of God and living a life to that end. Click here to read them.
